The exhibit illustrates arthroscopic surgery to treat temporomandibular joint (TMJ) degeneration with adhesions, Type II chondromalacia, synovitis, hyperemia, edema, and thickened disc with folding. After debriding and irrigating the joint space, anterolateral capsular release is performed. The TMJ joint is then manipulated and the disc reduced. Medicine is injection into the joint to finalize the procedure and promote healing at the surgical site.
