The exhibit illustrates surgery of the anterior cervical spine at the C5-6 level to treat a herniated disc. After exposing C5-6, annulotomy is preformed with distraction and disc material is removed with a rongeur. The posterior longitudinal ligament is released. Next the end plates are decorticated and osteophytes are removed. Mobi-C is placed into C5-6 disc space to complete the surgery.
