The exhibit illustrates an anterior discectomy and fusion procedure at C4-5, C5-6, and C6-7 levels of the cervical spine. Anterior osteophytes and herniated disc material are removed with rongeurs. Foraminotomies are performed and the end plates are decorticated to prepare the disc spaces for impaction of bone graft and cages. A cervical plate spanning C4-C7 is placed over the cages and screwed in place to stabilize the cervical spine and complete the surgery.
