Anterior Cervical Discectomy & Replacement at C4-5 - Print Quality Instant Download
The exhibit illustrates surgery of the anterior cervical spine at the C4-5 level to treat a herniated disc. After exposing C4-5, disc material is removed with a Kerrison rongeur to complete a discectomy procedure. The posterior longitudinal ligament and remaining disc fragments are also excised. Next the end plates are decorticated to allow for insertion of a disc implant and bone graft. Finally a plate and screws are placed over the disc space to complete the surgery.
