The exhibit illustrates anterior lumbar surgery at L3-4 and L4-5 levels to remove herniated discs and insert prosthetic discs. After exposing the vertebrae anteriorly, annulotomy and discectomy procedures are performed. The posterior longitudinal ligament is removed and end plates prepared to allow for insertion of the disc prostheses.
