During an anterior talofibular ligament repair surgery, a lateral incision is made over the lateral malleolus and the disrupted anterior talofibular ligament is dissected. An anchor is placed at the end of the talus and the anterior talofibular ligament is repaired. the extensor retinaculum is imbricated over the repaired site.
