The exhibit illustrates arthroscopic surgery of the left shoulder to treat subacromial impingement, synovitis, and tears of the supraspinatus tendon and labrum. After a partial synovectomy is performed, the labral and supraspinatus tears are debrided. The acromion and coracoacromial ligament are cut to reduce subacromial impingement. A bursectomy is also performed. The rotator cuff is finally repaired with an anchor and fiber tape system, stabilizing the glenohumeral joint, reducing pain, and improving shoulder function.
