This animation illustrates a chopart amputation of the left foot. An incision is made over the left foot and the transverse tarsal joints are disarticulated with a saw. The tibialis anterior tendon and the peroneus longus tendon are attached to the calcaneus. All tissue below the incision is cut away to leave a stump, which is closed with sutures and staples to complete the surgery.
