The exhibit illustrates open surgery of the lumbar spine at the L4-5 level. After exposing the surgical site, the supraspinous, interspinous ligament complex is removed with a rongeur. Next bilateral laminotomy and medial facetectomy procedures are performed. To complete the procedure, a Coflex device is placed at L4-5 for interlaminar stabilization.
