This exhibit depicts a decompression surgery of the lumbar spine at L4-5. A midline incision is made over L4-5 and a laminectomy at L4-5 is performed. Bilateral neurolysis is performed to remove scar tissue and decompress the L5 nerve roots. Pedicle screws are placed bilaterally at L4 and L5. The transverse processes and facets of L4-5 are decorticated to prepare for a posterolateral fusion with mixed bone graft, pedicle screws, and rods.
