The exhibit illustrates decompression surgery of the left lumbar spine at the L4-5 level. An incision is made over left L4-5 for the placement of a working tube. A laminotomy and partial medial facetectomy is completed. The nerve root is decompressed with a foraminotomy. The partial discectomy is started with incising the annulus to remove the disc fragments.
