This exhibit demonstrates the surgical procedures of a lumbar decompression at the left L4-S1 vertebral levels. An incision is made at the lumbar region and the left L4-S1 vertebrae are exposed. A hemilaminectomy, discectomy, and foraminotomy are performed, removing disc material to decompress the nerve roots.
