The exhibit illustrates the open reduction & internal fixation of the right knee to treat a mid-shaft femoral fracture. A guidewire is placed in the knee to ream the intramedullary canal. With the aid of an alignment device, a retrograde nail is impacted into the right femur. Finally distal and proximal locking screws are screwed into place to stabilize the nail and complete the procedure.
