The exhibit illustrates open surgery of the nose to smooth bone spurring. The external soft tissue is dissected to reveal the nasal bone pyramid. The cartilage is trimmed and the spurring is removed with a burr. Finally, a Denver splint is placed over the surgical site to stabilize the area and promote healing.
