Stroke occurs when a blood vessel carrying blood to the brain is blocked or obstructed by a blood clot. This causes blood not to reach the brain. TIA (transient ischemic attack) is caused by a temporary clot for a short period of time. This type of stroke is often called a “mini stroke.”
