The exhibit illustrates left lumbar spinal surgery to treat herniated discs at L4-5 and L5-S1. Contrast dye is injected into the disc spaces at these levels and working tubes are created to gain access to the problematic discs. Foraminotomy, annulotomy, discectomy, and annuloplasty procedures are performed to remove disc herniations and relieve pressure on the spinal cord.
