The exhibit illustrates a total right knee replacement with placement of a metal prosthesis. The distal femur and proximal tibia are excised with a bone saw, and the patella is also resected. After the damaged cartilage and bone tissue of the knee joint is removed, the knee prosthesis is inserted to complete the knee replacement surgery.
