Anterior Cervical Discectomy & Disc Replacement at C4-5 & C5-6 - Medical Animation
This animation depicts an anterior cervical discectomy and disc replacement at C4-5 and C5-6. Traction is placed and an incision is made over the anterior neck. After retraction and exposure at the C4-C6 levels, caspar pins are placed. Disc material is extracted from the disc space between the vertebrae using rongeurs and the posterior longitudinal ligament and herniated disc fragments are removed. Then bilateral foraminotomies are performed and the end plates are rasped. Disc replacements are inserted into the C4-5 and C5-6 disc spaces, stabilizing the vertebrae.
