This animation depicts a two level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion at C5-6 and C6-7. After retraction and exposure at the C5-C7 levels, distraction pins are placed. Disc material is extracted from the disc space between the vertebrae using rongeurs and posterior osteophytes are resected. Then bilateral foraminotomies are performed and the end plates are rasped in preparation. PEEK cages with mixed graft are inserted into the C5-6 and C6-7 disc spaces. Finally an Atlantis Elite plate with screws is fixed over the cage, stabilizing the vertebrae.
