The exhibit illustrates olfactory and taste pathways and dysfunction. After olfactory filaments are traumatized at the cribiform plate, olfactory dysfunction occurs. Damage to the cranial nerves disrupts signals to the sensory cortex of the brain and decreases the sense of taste.
