This animation depicts an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion at C3-4. After retraction and exposure at the C3-4 level, caspar pins are placed. Disc material is extracted from the disc space between the vertebrae using rongeurs and then bilateral foraminotomies are performed. The end plates are then prepared and a cage is inserted into the C3-4 disc space. Finally a plate with screws is placed over the cage, stabilizing the vertebrae.
